Our Company

A Brief History

In 1988, Rayomar Management Inc. and Transmar Agencies, Inc., collaborated with “K”Line, to put up a manning company
for the purpose of recruiting suitable Filipino seafarers to man “K”Line ships.

This collaboration bore fruit on April 12, 1989, when this manning company, now officially known as Ventis Maritime Corporation, formally opened at Suite 2098 V.V. Soliven Bldg., EDSA, Greenhills, San Juan, Metro Manila.

The Company had a skeleton crew then of only three employees and a mere three vessels under manning. Over the years, Ventis continually demonstrated its phenomenal capacity to grow and adjust to the ever-changing demands of the manning industry.

Towards the end of 1992, it became apparent that Ventis’ expanding operations necessitated the move to a bigger building, with facilities that could accommodate its growing staff and ever-increasing roster of seafarers. On January 27, 1993, Ventis’ new address would be at “K”Line Building at 1631 San Marcelino St., Malate, Manila.

Today, with 44 employees, four Principals listed under POEA, 56 vessels, and over a thousand seafarers in its roster, Ventis continues to face the challenge of the future.

Ventis was conferred an ISO certification on September 28, 1999 after months of preparation for a Quality Management System that will ensure Principals’ satisfaction. That it would work towards a continued and greater satisfaction of the Principals was proven on October 19, 2000 when it passed its first surveillance audit without a single nonconformity.
Before the year 2002 ended, Ventis added another feather to its cap when it was chosen by POEA as one of the Top Performer Awardee for 2002 for its outstanding performance in the sea-based sector. This is the second time for Ventis to be awarded with such honor by POEA. The first time was in March of 1996.

On September 5 and 6, 2003, Ventis took another giant step forward when it successfully passed the assessment and transition audit of NK for the new and more comprehensive version of ISO, the Standard 9001:2000. This achievement bodes well for the future of Ventis because the new version’s increased focus on customer satisfaction, continuous improvement and top management’s commitment is aligned to its principle of ensuring nothing but the complete satisfaction of its Principals.

At the start of 2004, the offices of Ventis underwent major renovations. Collaborating again with “K”Line, it acquired additional spaces in “K”Line Building. The additional spaces made possible the creation of a Seaman’s Lounge where the seafarers can enjoy comfort and convenience while waiting for their papers to be processed. It also made possible the relocation and expansion of some departments and sections to enable them to serve the seafarers better and improve its services, in general. On May 21, 2004, the formal blessing of these expanded offices coincided with Ventis’ observance of its 15th Anniversary.

On January 31, 2006, Ventis received another award from POEA, the “Top Performer Award”, making it three times that Ventis has been honored with this citation by POEA.

The Management

“Quality is everybody’s business, a shared responsibility.”
This is just one of the many slogans put up in the office during the preparations for the assessment and transition audit for the new version of ISO. It echoes top management’s commitment and concern in offering nothing but quality service to its Principals.

Recalling how it was when the Company wrote its first quality manual more than four years ago, the President and Chairman of the Board of Ventis Maritime Corporation confirms with conviction that quality is a “people’s” issue.

This, he said, means that quality must be driven by top management and pursued all the way by all the employees who comprise the organization.

He stresses to the employees the fact that Ventis is in business today because of its Principals and their continued trust and confidence in Ventis to provide them with the seafarers they need, help make their business grow.
